  • Gary Danko Experience

I want to write this down when it's still fresh in my head.

Oh the after-feeling of having such a great meal. 2 months ago, Holly made a reservation at the best fine-dine restaurant in San Francisco. The only thing about Gary Danko is that you need 2 months prior reservation, so it's not a walk in restaurant or a last minute planning. Everyone who eats in GD has waited for a good 2 months, and so did we.

I was very curious of what Gary Danko has to offer, rated the top one restaurant in SF. My hopes were pretty high, so I went on the website and checked the menu. To be honest, I wasn't feeling so hyped about it. So I went on Michael Minna's website and checked out the Autumn menu, that intrigued me alot and I really wanted to try Minna instead of GD.

Went ahead with the plan instead. Dressed up, curled my hair, Holly came to pick us up and off we went to Gary Danko.

I didn't quite like the setting of the place and our table arrangment. The crowd was noisy, unlike Fleur De Lys which we had last semester, FDL was quiet and romantic. Gary Danko was just noisy and it felt like I was in a Thai restaurant.

We sat down and was instantly greeted by the manager. I love the flexibility of the menu. You can have any meal you want, and it doesn't matter whether it's an appetiser or main course. This means, you can have a 3 course full dessert meal, or a 3 course full appetizer meal. Anything that tickles your fancy. We had a mini plate of foie gras mousse as complimentary starter, which was rather nice.

So we all had a 4 course dinner. I usually don't remember names of food, but I got it off Gary Danko's website. The name itself will make you salivate.

For appetizer: I had the Seared Sonoma Foie Gras with Caramelized Red Onions and Fuji Apples.
Ratings : The Best course ever. The Foie Gras just melted in my mouth like tofu. Everything complemented each other, the apples and the foie gras, the onions with the apples, etc. I loved it and the taste of it still lingers in my mouth.

For my 2nd course, I had the Roast Maine Lobster with Potato Purée, Chanterelles, Edamame Beans and Tarragon.
Ratings: Exactly like how I imagined it to be. Honestly, I was rather disappointed with it, it was pretty bland, and I am really not a big fan of potato puree with lobster. I've tasted alot of meals with potato puree and they're starting to taste the same to me. I should have gone with the Seared Sea Scallops with Pumpkin Purée, Maitake Mushrooms and Sauce Marechal instead.

For my 3rd course, I had the Lemon Pepper Duck Breast with Duck Hash, Celery Root-Garlic Purée and Cardamom Poached Pears.
Ratings: I did my research before and heard great reviews of the signature duck. First impression was rather good, the duck breast tasted nothing like duck, which was surprising yet pleasant at the same time. The duck hash is magical because its texture is exactly like a potato hash but it was DUCK. The Poach Pears was a great combination along with the duck breast. It was sweet and just perfect.

Everyone tried the cheese selection. And I swear when the French chef pulled the tray of exotic cheese (from all over the world) infront of us, it was such a pain and long experience. I hate cheese, I don't care whether they're aged blue cheese from France or wherever it's from, they all SMELT LIKE GOAT'S URINE. I was trying to hold my breath the whole time, the smell of the cheese was just so overwhelming and intense.

However, I like watching them eating the cheese, with grapes and bread. I wish I could eat cheese too. :( We should have ordered white wine to go with the cheese.

    And then dessert came.
My selection for dessert was the Baked Chocolate Soufflé with Two Sauces. I don't like Creme Brulee or Panna Cotta, so I always order Souffle or cake.
    Ratings: The souffle was alright.

The night ended with a really nice complimentary dessert palate from the chef. For me, it's very important how the night ends. And the last time I was in Fleur De Lys, we had free champagne Dom Perignon and a large tray of petit dessert. This time at Gary Danko, the petit dessert plate didn't look that interesting, no one went out to grab any, so I had most to myself.

We had a punpkin cream cheese cake wrapped really nicely for each of us, so that was too sweet of them. Payed the bill, tipped them and went home.

Oh man. I'm still thinking of that seared foie gras. Mmmmm. Pictures will be uploaded on Facebook. :)

  • Whatever you like

    Thankgiving so far....

    1) San Ramon on ThanksGiving eve = insanity! Big house in the middle of nowhere. Rey & Mari doing their set for us. Was sooooo drunk. Left San Ramon at 5.30am

Had to wake up early to cook for thanksgiving. My so called "Honey BBQ chicken wings" didn't turn out. I woke up too late, prepared to get ready to Noelle's place. So we bought liqour instead since there was a lot of food there already.

    2) Had my first ever thanksgiving meal. Wine bottles were opened one after another. Drinking started at 8pm. Some already started before. Everyone was just having fun. Music was insane. Left at 5.30am again

And today, Black Friday. Had to wake up at 11am, get dress, and went to Downtown for insane shopping. Have you shopped being drunk? Hahaha I did. Because I didn't eat breakfast so I still felt the alcohol in my stomach. So I was basically half sober, half drunk the whole day.

I am too tired. So I'm staying in tonight. The Give Thanks rave is tomorrow with Cosmic Gate, Super 8 & Tab and lots of DJs playing. I'm not heading there because everyone's not down for it since it's in the Richmond and it's hella ghetto there I heard.

So tomorrow night, it's........ Yes, Ruby Skye again. But this time, I'm gonna lay off the hooch. I hope I'll be able to do it. I'm pretty sick of it.

Okay. Have an insane thanksgiving! And for those who are in Vegas now, GO ALL OUT BABEEEHHHH!

  • Happy Thanksgiving week!

We have having Trancegiving this thursday at Bennington Lounge (Can't believe they actually called their house that)

It will be awesome, there will be alcohol, food, turkeyyyyy (if no one cooks that shit, I will kill each and everyone of u)

Also with DJ Mecca and his girlfriend DJ Mari playing their set, it WILL BE AWESOME.

Last class tomorrow morning and my thanksgiving holiday starts!

I think I should quit drinking already. I'm quite sick of it. Drank on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I don't think my liver can't take it anymore.

And the worst thing issssss. I had to start smoking again. I quit like 2 months ago, and now it's coming back. It was probably triggered by that event that night.

I was a raging bitch that night. Never felt so much evil and anger in me. Then again, that's what makes a bitch, a bitch. Heh.

Have a good weekend, don't drink too much. :)

  • No way.

Do not, DO NOT, DO NOT EVER WATCH 2 GIRLS ONE CUP.

When people talk about it, don't ever ever feel curious and Google the video up to watch.

Because it's the most horrifying video ever.

My reaction when I was watching it was:

    Farrrrkkkkk............ Oh farrrkkkkkk.

    2 girls 1 cup.

    *^*&^%^$^%$#%$@$#!@%$YO()*_)()

Omg. I can't believe what I just saw. No wonder everyone's talking about it.

David Guetta coming to town next friday. So I'm seeing him on Friday and I might go for the Thanksgiving rave. That would be like my 3rd rave for the year if I did go. Cosmic gate, super8 & tab and etc. Line ups look okay, but hey the great thing about raves here is that there are TONS of hot guys. Like TONS half naked.

Been lazy to take pictures in club or any events. Rather drink, dance, drunk, dance, hook ups, then home.

Went to see this DJ at Ruby Skye last night, called The Crystal Method, sorry dude, that DJ really suck ass. Went to another club, 1015, never knew that 4 Strings was such a good DJ, I loved every single track he played. He's such a crazy motherfucker.

Love love love love love it. Time to collect laundry! And I'm still on the fucking waiting list.

  • Love? No love?

When you live in the same house, eat at the same time and sleep at the same time. Your period cycle happens to be the same. So imagine this. 3 girls on PMS at the same time. How to not fight?

However, the fortunate thing is that I can get along with one, but with the other, it's like cat and dog.

We can never get along. I'm not going to lie, but I hate her. If someone asks me about her, I'm just going to say she's a bitch and I hate her. I don't even want to lie, I don't even want to make an effort to be a hypocrite. I'll just say I hate her, that's all.

At this point, there's already no need of trying to talk things out and negotiate on terms. We've done that. Been there, done that. Heard of?

So I concluded that we should just remain as enemies. Too much discussion gives me a headache, I rather hate Michelle, it's so much more easier hating her than to trying to like her.

Back to something more happy. I'm going out this weekend. Like finally. I bought my halloween outfit. Guess what I'm going to be?

Not telling till you see the pictures! Btw, san fran is getting cold. And my friends are missing, I bet they're too busy being in love or hunting for love. It may be Fall season but it seems like many people are coupling out, which sucks because no one's after me, and even if there is, I won't want a boyfriend because I fucking love my single life.

Aduh duh. So depressing. Maybe I really need a boyfriend. To fill up my time, and accompany me. Hey, that's why lonely boys go after girls, why do you think your boyfriend's with you? Because he needs company and someone to hug and kiss, duh.

Who wants to be my new BFF?

Fuck, I really like him. But I can't have him. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
